At SoCal Narrative therapy, we use an approach to couples therapy called "relational accountability." We aim to do more than give you one size fits all strategies for better communication. In fact, we want to let you in on a little secret. Teaching couples communication simply skills doesn't work. Instead, what we will offer you is a way to a more intimate and satisfying relationship that is based on helping you better live out your values, commitments and ethics in your relationship together.
We believe that relationships thrive when each partner intentionally and actively considers the contribution that they hope to make in the each other's daily lives. Over the course of therapy, we will help you come to know what it is that makes your partner feel uniquely unloved in your relationship and to discover ways that you have the capacity to uniquely love them back to life. We will help you to become witnesses to each other's stories in ways that make you, them, and your relationship stronger. In short, our approach to couples therapy places love and the ethic of love at the center of our work together.
